A Clínica Médicos provider with a patient
From Our Team

It started with a small puncture wound.

A 14-year-old came to our clinic with a puncture wound in her foot. We updated her lapsed tetanus vaccine — before discovering the wound happened because her apartment was almost uninhabitable.

That's when we involved our behavioral health navigators to advocate for her, call the landlord, and get the situation addressed. Having earned the family's trust, her mother shared that her daughter's crippling anxiety had gone untreated, and her schooling was suffering. We introduced her to our clinical psychologist to start her on the path to full wellness.

Our physicians are trained to understand that a patient's presenting concern is not the end of ours. Often, we must dig deeper to help heal.

Patient story

Juana

I first came to Clínica Médicos when I found out I was pregnant. I had no insurance and didn't know where to go. They didn't judge me — they took great care of me and helped me with temporary insurance for hospital costs. They delivered my daughter, who's now two. I bring all my kids here now. Last month I was sick with a fever; instead of the ER, the clinic took my blood, did an ultrasound, and gave me antibiotics right there. Because of them, I got the help I needed the day I needed it.

Patient story

A Saturday Walk-In

A 17-year-old from El Salvador came in on a Saturday with chest pain. His exam and ECG were normal — but when we dug deeper, we learned he was displaced from his family, living alone, working to support himself, and on the brink of suicide. We connected him to a Spanish-speaking counselor and started appropriate care with daily follow-up, at no charge, to ensure his safety and build trust.

Patient story

Estrella

Five-year-old Estrella's parents drove from Tracy City with pus streaming from their daughter's ear. Her infection was so severe that her hearing was compromised. Oral antibiotics alone weren't potent enough, so we provided injectable antibiotics and medications from our pharmacy over five days — until she was cured and could hear properly again.

Patient story

Maria

After a car accident, Maria went to the ER and learned she had a broken back — and that she was pregnant. She came to Clínica Médicos in a back brace, frightened for her child and unable to communicate with doctors about her fracture. We accessed her records electronically and worked alongside her neurosurgeon to create a treatment plan that avoided expensive office visits and kept her baby healthy.

Patient story

Jesus

Jesus walked into Clínica Médicos with his wife and two small children the first day we opened, newly arrived from Florida. Four months earlier, he'd been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. We connected him to Erlanger's tumor clinic for the uninsured and paired him with an oncologist so he could start chemotherapy. The treatment was successful — and a year later, we delivered his healthy second child.

Patient story

Maricella

My ear infection wouldn't improve, and the ER antibiotics made me sick. I missed two weeks of school from the pain. Dr. Arnold listened and found an injectable medication I could tolerate — I was back in school the next week, pain-free. My father was so impressed that he became her patient too. They discovered he has diabetes, and he's since lost ten pounds. He looks great and feels better!
